  1. At a recent Oscar ceremony, Elia Kazan got inducted into the hall of fame. Every single person (except Scorcese and another) stayed seated instead of standing up in honor of the award, which shows you where their sympathies lie now.

  2. If you’re talking about innovative (and patriotic) films, The Birth of a Nation shouldn’t be overlooked. So much in cinematography and storytelling was done in that movie that just had never been done before in a film. It was revolutionary and one of the most important films ever made…and I swear one day I will sit through all 3 hours of it.

So much in storytelling and cinematography that we take for granted in movies today had never been done before TBoaN. It was truly a revolutionary film…and I swear that I’ll sit through all 3 hours of it some day.

    • The Birth of a Nation is a legendary film, and it really holds up! I think RiB will talk about it sometime soon. You should watch it. I gather friends and family (I’m in the South) to watch it on July 4th. It might become a tradition.
